It may be illegal in your area or State to possess certain species of mushrooms, even though they grow wild there. The state of California has laws against spores that are capable of producing controlled substances. There are now laws in other States on mushroom spores, GA & ID. Each spore sample packet is sealed and air tight in plastic to insure against contamination. Because of mail handling, sometimes spores may be knocked off of paper. You may pick a spore sample packet for each species you donate that is accepted. Donors are entitled to have their gift isolations free when they may again need them. Spore prints should be submitted on 8 1/2 X 11 inch paper. Paper should be proper color as to contras the color of mushroom spores. A cover sheet is then placed over the prints and affixed at the very top only by tape or staple. If at all possible, these prints should be sent unfolded. RESTRICTIONS ON SPORE SYRINGES The Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has notified FMRC that it is illegal and a FELONY to offer syringes that contain mushroom spores capable of producing a controlled substance. These syringes are used only to cultivate said type mushrooms. To possess or cultivate any mushrooms that produces controlled substances (psilocybin, psilocin) is against the law in every state but Florida. These type syringes are not offered by FMRC. As we were told eye to eye not to do this by DEA, we abide by their order. Samples contain plus or minus 10,000 spores. All spores are held in dry state just above freezing. Spores are offered mainly for microscopy and identifying purposes. Many times, from traveling through the postal system, spores may be knocked off paper. Because the samples are shipped in sealed plastic packets, spores will still be inside the packet, even when knocked off the paper. As many species listed are grouped "mycorrhiza" and cannot be lab cultivated, most species are collected from the wild, and FMRC has not run cultivation tests on said spores, no growing claims on any species is made, given or implied.
